There are of course some classic Spider-man villains like Rhino, Kingpin, Scorpion and the Vulture missing, but there’s a TV screen on the outside that references Dr Kurt Connors (Lizard), Professor Miles Warren (Jackal) and Scarlet Spider, a Spider-Mman clone. Let’s get to the main selling point of the set (not the height, unbelievably) but the incredible selection of 25 minifigures included.įor Marvel fans, the inclusion of Daredevil, The Punisher and Blade are just mind-blowing, especially since Blade and The Punisher are usually R-rated properties, and Daredevil’s Netflix series wasn’t the most family friendly.īut kudos on LEGO to finally releasing these 3 minifigures. What minifigures are in the LEGO Daily Bugle (76178) Not hyperbole, but this is a very, very strong contender for set of the year. The LEGO Daily Bugle will be available exclusively from and your local LEGO Brand Retail store. See below for regional pricing and links: This 3,772-piece set will cost US$299.99 / £274.99 / AU$499.99 and will be released on on for LEGO VIP members, and 1 June 2021 for everyone else. This 2021 Daily Bugle is packed with a mind-boggling 25 minifigures, which includes the who’s who of Marvel’s New York superhero population – including some surprise (but very welcome additions) such as The Punisher, Daredevil and Blade who make their LEGO debut in this set. Anything said in this post is the opinion of the author and not The LEGO Group.Swing into the LEGO Spiderverse with LEGO 76178 Daily Bugle – THE ultimate LEGO Spider-Man set and strong contender of best set of 2021. Priced at $299 (no announcements yet on if this will increase with other sets due a price bump in coming months) this set is one of those once in a lifetime buys, but as with larger sets it's good value for money (8c ppp) and if you can afford it you won't be disappointedĭisclaimer: This LEGO set was kindly provided for review by The LEGO Group. Also I think the roof sign looks a bit oversized which wouldn't be the case if the building was 4-6 studs wider. I'd even sacrifice 4-5 minifigures to improve this. If I had to nitpick I'd complain that the footprint is a bit too small, especially on higher floors. The height is certainly impressive and will tower over pretty much anything else likely to be in your city. Yes there's a ton of repetition but that was to be expected, luckily this is balanced by great interior builds and an unparalleled selection of minifigures. Based on the Animated TV show Ultimate Spider-Man the set contained a great assortment of minifigures but had a less than impressive Daily Bugle building. Set 76005-1 - Spider-Man: Daily Bugle Showdown was released in 2013. In LEGO form we haven't seen that many versions of the Daily Bugle. The modern version was introduced in a 1962 Fantastic Four comic before appearing in Spider-Man in 1963. First appearing in 1941's Marvel Mystery Comics #18 as part of a story involving a Golden Age version of the Human Torch (not the Johnny Storm version). Its history actually predates Spider-Man by over 20 years. The Daily Bugle is up there with the rival Daily Planet for most famous fictional newspaper. In part two I'll summarize the new parts/prints/colors/rare parts for the main model and I'll see how much of the building I can fit in my light box! I included the packaging and instructions information here too so if you missed it you can click here. In part one I wrote about the minifigures. With an impressive height this is LEGO's largest skyscraper to date. With the minifigures out of the way I'm going to be building the Bugle itself.
